"Michigan J. Frog" Drawing by Chuck Jones (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Everybody's doing the Michigan Rag!" Michigan J. Frog was featured in the 1955 theatrical short One Froggy Evening, written by Mike Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones (1912-2002), who also designed and created the character. This short was voted the fifth best all-time cartoon in Jerry Beck's wonderful book The 50 Greatest Cartoons. It was voted in 2003 for Preservation with the Library of Congress. Michigan J. Frog also served as the Logo Mascot for the WB Network from 1995 - 2005. Original artwork from this cartoon is almost nonexistent. This is a rare one-of-a-kind graphite rough drawing of Michigan J. Frog done from the hand of his creator, the great Chuck Jones. This is the classic image of him with hat and cane, created on 12 field animation paper for Mr. Jones' art gallery program. You can almost hear Michigan singing, "Hello, my baby, hello, my honey, hello my ragtime gal!" Great image size of 9". This is from the Chuck Jones Archives, and comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Linda Jones Enterprises. Fine condition.
