    Description

"Marvin the Martian" Painting by Dick Duerrstein (Warner Brothers, c. 2000s). Diminutive space warrior Marvin the Martian made his first appearance in the Chuck Jones-directed Bugs Bunny short Haredevil Hare (1948). Marvin did not have a name in his early appearances; he was known only as "The Commander of Flying Saucer X-2." This is an outstanding original acrylic painting on canvas of Marvin the Martian by Dick Duerrstein. Mr. Duerrstein was the Creative Director for two decades at Walt Disney Consumer Products. He left there to pursue a career in Fine Art, with an emphasis on animated characters. One of his signature trademarks is starting a painting with a distinctive light blue line, like an animation drawings, then paint through those lines with the blue line still visible. This is one of those trademark style paintings, open-face framed with a mat opening of 24" x 30", and an overall size of 28.5" x 34.5". This impressive large painting of Marvin with his ray gun is signed by the artist in bottom left corner, as well as on back of the canvas. Fine condition.
