Description
X-Men: The Animated Series "Days of the Future Past, Part 2" Cyclops and Wolverine Original Production Cel (Marvel Studios, 1993). "Hold it. I smell something oily." Here in this incredible hand-painted cel are an unlikely pair of mutants, Wolverine and Cyclops, on the prowl for the real assassin that frames Gambit for killing the President of the United States. Originally aired on 3/20/1993 as Episode 12 of Season 1, this episode sees the time-travelling mutant Bishop inform the X-Men that Gambit will be the assassin who kills the President of the United States which causes their destruction in the future. Now that Gambit knows about the future, he prematurely set out to prove his innocence by figuring out why he would kill the President when he has no reason to. This 2-Part episode is adapting The Uncanny X-Men #142 storyline. The ruby-eyed Cyclops was created by the logophile Stan Lee (1922 - 2018) and the illustrious Jack Kirby (1917 - 1994) in 1963, making his debuting in The X-Men #1. Cyclops has been the mainstay leader of the X-Men since the beginning which comes as no shock because Cyclops, along with Beast, were Stan Lee's two favorite X-Men. The savage Wolverine was created by Len Wein (1948 - 2017) and John Romita Sr. (1930 - 2023) in 1974 making his full appearance debut in The Incredible Hulk #181 as he took on the green jade giant. These two have a complicated history with each other because not only do they have clashing personalities, but they each love the same women - Jean Grey. The tense image of the mutant pair can be seen at the 17:55 timestamp of the episode. The combined character size of Cyclops and Wolverine measures about 9.5" x 8.25" and is displayed over a scene matching print background for presentation purposes. The overall condition is Fine to Very Good with minor handling and edge wear.Auction Info
