Woody Woodpecker Production Cel and Master Title Cel Setup (Walter Lantz, c. 1940s-50s). "GUESS WHO?" This iconic sequence began every Woody Woodpecker short for over a decade from the early 40's to the mid '50s. Woody first appeared in the Andy Panda short Knock Knock in 1940 and quickly became Walter Lantz's biggest star. Originally he had green eyes, but they went away around 1955 after he was redesigned for television and as a result green-eyed Woodys have become highly sought after by collectors. This is a hand-inked and hand-painted production cel of a fantastic "green eyed" Woody Woodpecker from the famous opening song and title sequence showing Woody pecking out his name and it can be seen around the 10 second mark in dozens of theatrical shorts The full-body character measures 4.5" x 2.5" on a 12 field cel which is signed by Walter Lantz (1899-1994) in the lower right corner. This cel is over a Master opening title sequence cel. Framed under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 11.5" x 9" in a 22" x 20" frame. Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
