Description
Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree Gopher Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1966). "Do the job for the hourly rate, plus cover materials, plus overtime, plus 10%." Gopher estimates how much he should charge to dig a thoroughly stuck Winnie the Pooh out from Rabbit's burrow entrance in this original production cel from the Silly Old Bear's on-screen debut in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. Pooh's first animated appearance also unfortunately happened to be Walt Disney's last directly produced short as he would succumb to lung cancer within a year of its release. The short was later rereleased as part of the 1977 anthology film The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which also featured two other early Pooh shorts; the beloved collection is still available today. Having been called to aid the "tubby cubby" alongside the other denizens of the 100 Acre Wood, Gopher calculates the cost for his ground-moving services near the 18:25 mark of the anthology version of the short, but concludes that the job is much too dangerous. His full-figured image measures 3.5" x 3.75" on the hand-painted cel, including the stick he uses to tally the projected cost of the project. Framed under glass to an overall measurement of 16" x 12.25" with a mat aperture of approximately 10.5" x 6.75", the cel has been meticulously cut to edge and placed on a solid color paper background, and the mat includes a 3.5" x 2" custom cel painted title. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
