Description

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Multi-Character Production Cel (Amblin/Disney, 1988). After Eddie Valiant destroys Judge Doom in his own dip, all the Toons from Toontown gather around to view his remains, while Eddie searches his pockets for Roger's love letters. Baby Herman says, "Without the will, we're all just waiting for another developer's wrecking ball!" This is a historic hand-painted production cel that combined studios and classic characters together for the first time. This is a Key Scene to this landmark movie, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. It has no less than 25 classic cartoon characters! From Disney, we see Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Snow White, Dopey, Peter, Br'er Bear, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Bambi, and a Mary Poppins Penguin. In this same historic scene, we see Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester the Cat, and Marc Anthony. A black and white Fleischer Studio Betty Boop is even in the crowd, as well as several other characters. This was sold at the historic "The Art of Who Framed Roger Rabbit" auction held in New York City on June 28, 1989. This was lot #186. Many believe that this auction was the one that triggered the animation art collecting boom in the 1990s. The cel has the original Letter of Authenticity and the Roger Rabbit embossed seal on the mat. This 25-plus character cel is on a color photo background. When Disney Studio released cels, they only released Disney characters and on black and white backgrounds. This was the only official release of mixed-studio character production cels. This important piece of animation history is matted with an opening of 17" x 11" and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 26" x 20". Two black and white photos of Eddie Valiant are also included with the cel. Frame is sold as-is, cel condition is Very Good.
