Description
Walt Disney's Disneyland "Adventures in Fantasy" Little Toot Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1957). "With a huff and a puff and a chug, chug, chug, and a perky little hoot- We introduce our hero, the tugboat Little Toot!" Happy-go-lucky Little Toot makes his small screen debut in this original production cel from his newly animated interstitial scenes in the Walt Disney's Disneyland Season Four episode "Adventures in Fantasy". From the final season to air under the original Disneyland branding, this episode premiered on November 6, 1957 with Walt taking viewers on an in depth look at "the animated inanimate" in nonliving objects given grand personalities over the years by his talented artists. This episode included several clips of feature films and two theatrical shorts in full, paired with new animation which exhibited the rough linework seen in Little Toot's cel reminiscent of the graphite live-drawing scenes that accompanied the new sequences. The cheery tugboat can be spotted near the 22:00 timestamp of the episode when viewed online with the full theatrical shorts removed. He has been hand-painted to full figure and embellished after production with a hand-inked steam cloud and water ripples for a full image area of 9" x 4.5". His vertically aligned cel has been trimmed slightly to fit within the dimensions of the mat which measures 14" x 12.5" overall with an aperture of 10.25" x 8.25" and is presented with a print background for display. Little Toot first appeared in his eponymous segment of the 1948 anthology film Melody Time, a clip of which is featured in this Disneyland episode directly after his newly animated sequence. With typical handling and edge wear including the noted trimming and two faint paint cracks in his smokestack, overall this delightfully alive tugboat is in Good condition.More information about Disney Television Animation.
