Description
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust D Production Cel with Key Master Background (Madhouse, 2000). "He is what he is, Charlotte. You can't change him. He'll take you in time, and when that happens, I will have to kill you." The stoic D tries to reason with Charlotte, who desires to stay by Meier Link's side. During the conversation, we see this fantastic image of D at the 48:06 mark of the cult-classic anime film Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Measuring an image size of 13.25" x 8.25" on the pan-sized hand-painted production cel, numbered B5 in the top right corner, we can see the detailed work done for the shading in the hair and clothes of the enigmatic character. The cel is presented on its original Key Master background of the ruins where D finds Charlotte, rendered gorgeously with gouache on background board measuring an image size of 14" x 9.25". The beautiful background is an amazing example of the magnificent work put into the movie and the admirable detail that went into the production. The greenery and the ruins have an astonishing amount of detail for a piece that we only get to see for a little bit as a backdrop of a conversation. The cel and the background show light handling wear from production use, with the background also showing some tape wear on the top edge that doesn't affect the art.
