Description
TRON "Master Control Program Pursuit Force" Ektachrome Continuous-Tone Transparency (Walt Disney, 1982). This original Ektachrome continuous-tone transparency (often called a Kodalith by TRON collectors) captures a tense moment as Sark's MCP Pursuit Force tanks bear down on the last conscript, Tron. Enlarged from Bruce Logan's 65mm black-and-white fine-grain stage photography, the piece was used on the animation stand: framed positives were backlit and re-photographed through color filters to create the film's signature glow. Because full-frame computer animation wasn't yet practical in 1982, shots like this were assembled one frame at a time-some taking up to six hours. Associate producer and VFX supervisor Harrison Ellenshaw later noted that the term "CGI" only came into common use after TRON. The wide composition underscores human resolve within a calculated mainframe world, heightening the sequence's kinetic threat. Measuring 20" x 12" (image 19" x 8.5"), it remains in Very Good condition and will display beautifully on a lightbox-an evocative artifact from Disney's cult sci-fi milestone.Auction Info
