Tom and Jerry Kids Spike and Tyke Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera Signed Production Cel (Hanna-Barbera, 1990). Originally appearing in Tom and Jerry theatrical shorts for MGM, the canine father and son were revived for Tom and Jerry's move to the small screen. A father and son bulldog duo, they do not actively pursue Tom and Jerry, and yet - usually, through Tom's incompetence, the dogs will end up involved regardless. Tyke did not speak in the theatrical shorts, but was given a voice for the television cartoon. The relationship between the two is very nurturing; Spike takes Tyke on outings and teachers him about the ways of the world. Spike is enormous in this original production cel from the series; his painted image measures roughly 8.5" x 8"! Lots of detail and shadows in this cel. He is placed over a print background for display purposes. (Please note: Tyke is also a part of the background; he is not painted on the cel.) Spike is painted on a 12 field 3-peghole production cel. Signed by legendary studio owners Will Hanna (1910 - 2001) and Joe Barbera (1911 - 2006)! A Hanna-Barbera studio seal has been affixed to the bottom right corner. In Fine condition.
