Description
Three Little Wolves Fiddler Pig and Peddler Stall Production Cel Setup with Master Background (Walt Disney, 1936). "You little swine!" Disney's Three Little Pigs was groundbreaking for storytelling in animation and The Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Wolves, and The Practical Pig followed its example with more cartoon hijinks between the pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. This lot is a rare opportunity for collectors to add a hand-painted and hand-inked 12 field production cel and stunning mixed media Master background! Three Little Wolves was the third of the Three Little Pigs shorts and was directed by David Hand, releasing to theaters on 4/18/1936. The short centered around the Big Bad Wolf's next attempt to eat the pigs, this time with the help of this three sons. The full figure cel of Fifer Pig has been meticulously trimmed to figure and attached to the fruit stand cel. He was created for earlier in the short at about 1:59 as his brother blows a horn to make Practical destroy part of his Wolf Pacifier contraption. The cel of the fruit stand, actually a fake entrance to trick the wolf, appears at roughly 7:01 when Practical is nearly blown away by the Wolf using his brothers' horn, and the background was made for about 7:18 during the dramatic chase sequence. The cels measure about 8.5'' x 6.5'' combined while the background takes up the 11.5'' x 8.5'' mat window. A rare piece of Disney and animation history, the lot is presented in a 19'' x 16'' Plexiglas-fronted frame and is in Good to Very Good condition with light handling wear, some rippling to the cel, and faint toning from age.
