Description

The Wonderful World of Color Ludwig Von Drake and Gopher Multilayer Production Cel (Walt Disney, c. 1960s). "Hello, 'dere'! Professor Ludwig Von Drake here. Certified scientist, and all-around expert on brilliant things!" Professor Ludwig Von Drake made his first appearance on September 24, 1961 and became a host of many Sunday evening Disney TV episodes. He was voiced by the late Paul Frees. Von Drake was the first Disney character created specifically for television animation, and he would continue to appear in Disney productions for decades to come. This great piece Is composed of two original, hand-painted production cels that depict Von Drake and a smiling gopher. The image of the scholarly duck measures about 3.75", while the gopher measures about 1" x 1.5". The cels measure about 14" x 10.5", though there is some uneven trimming on the left edge of one cel. The cels are displayed on a color print background, and the piece is matted, with a matboard aperture of 11" x 8" and an overall mat size of 18" x 14". The piece is in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear. There are some minor tears on the edges of the acetate which are not visible through the mat opening.
