Description

The Ugly Duckling Ugly Duckling Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1939). The titular character of Disney's Academy Award-winning animated short The Ugly Duckling is in the spotlight in this lot, featuring a wonderful hand-painted production cel Courvoisier setup. In 1931, Disney adapted the famous story by Hans Christian Andersen for the first time under the direction of Wilfred Jackson, with this second version directed by Jack Cutting and Clyde Geronimi. This wonderful hand-painted and hand-inked image of the cygnet comes from the 3:38 mark and shows him measuring 4.25" x 2.25". Our adorable character is shown chasing a butterfly, possibly from a different short, and displayed on a hand-painted Courvoisier background, with an overlay showing the water rippling effect. The cel is professionally trimmed to image and offered on a 15.75" x 16.5" glass-fronted frame, with an 8.5" x 7" mat opening, showing "From 'The Ugly Duckling'" inscribed in pencil on the left area of the mat and a Courvoisier COA on the back. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Presenting mild waviness and minor handling wear from production, the condition is Very Good.
