The Ugly Duckling Mother and Father Duck Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1939). Mother and Father Duck are excited to receive their newborn in this fabulous hand-painted production cel Courvoisier setup from Disney's 1939 animated adaptation of the eminent tale The Ugly Duckling. A remake of an earlier Wilfred Jackson short, released on December 16, 1931, this later version, directed by Hamilton Luske and Jack Cutting, more closely resembled the original story by Hans Christian Andersen and was released on April 7, 1939. The image of the thrilled father appears at the 1:34 timestamp and shows the character measuring 3.5" x 4.75", while the surprised Mother is from the 1:35 mark and measures 3" x 2". Both feathered parents are hand-inked, professionally trimmed to image, and shown on a gorgeous Courvoisier airbrushed background. This lot is offered on a Plexiglas-fronted 15.5" x 14.25" frame with a 9" x 8" mat opening. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Some paint retouching can be seen on the surface of Father Duck's wing, with some paint cracking on his leg. In Good to very Good condition, presenting mild handling wear from production.Auction Info
