The Tortoise and the Hare Production Cel and Painted Background (Walt Disney, 1935). "I've got a race to run!" says Toby Tortoise as he looks back and realizes he is ahead of Max Hare. The short was released on 1/5/35, directed by Wilfred Jackson; this was the first of two Silly Symphony shorts to pit these two antagonists against each other. Dripping with historical animation significance; The Tortoise and the Hare won an Oscar for Best Animated Short. The piece shows a full-figure image measuring 6" and is on a full 12 field nitrate production cel with "136" inked on the lower right corner. The cel is paired with a hand-painted presentation background. Considered very rare; Very Good condition
