Description

The Sword in the Stone Girl Squirrel Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1963). Included in this lot is an enormous trimmed production cel of the girl squirrel who falls for Squirrel Wart when he's transformed by Merlin for his second lesson in The Sword in the Stone. The squirrel was created for the close-up scene at about 41:19 in the film as she looks Wart up and down when she first spots him, smiling widely and chattering excitedly before she starts playing with him. She was primarily animated by Disney Legend and one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Frank Thomas (1912 - 2004), who handled the emotion in her scenes expertly. The squirrel measures about 5.5'' x 6.75'', meticulously trimmed to figure and mounted to a new 12 field cel. The cel is displayed on a solid color card and has been professionally restored. The sweet little squirrel is in Very Good condition overall with light wear and tape at the back attaching the cel.
