Description

The Simpsons "Bart Gets Hit by a Car" Original Production Cel and Layout (Fox, 1991). This rare and unusual production cel from The Simpsons episode "Bart Gets Hit by a Car," the 10th episode of season two, presents a moment frozen in time, capturing the Springfield Shopper's front page with the headline "Hurray For Burns!" Directed by Mark Kirkland, this episode weaves a narrative inspired by Billy Wilder's 1966 film "The Fortune Cookie," exploring themes of greed and deception as Homer, with the assistance of the dubious lawyer Lionel Hutz (voiced by Phil Hartman in his debut), attempts to sue Mr. Burns for a hefty sum after Bart is injured. This hand-painted 12 field acetate cel, accompanied by a layout of the Springfield Shopper front page, offers a glimpse into the episode's critical commentary on media influence and legal manipulation. We can see this image at or near the 9:33 time stamp. The layout contains a print of the paper taped to a sheet of 12 field animation paper, both items are in Good condition, capturing a piece of television history that introduces Lionel Hutz's character, emblematic of the show's satirical take on the American legal system and societal values.
