Description

The Road Runner Show "Grenade Tennis" Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote Production Cels with Painted Backgrounds (Warner Brothers, 1966). Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner square up in a game of high-stakes tennis in this hilarious pair of production cels from The Road Runner Show. These pieces come from the third bridging segment of the show, entitled grenade tennis, which sees Wile E. attempt to defeat his high-speed nemesis with an explosive match of tennis (which, of course, quickly backfires on him). This wonderful piece includes two original, hand-painted, hand-inked production cels, each featuring a fantastic, full-figure image of the two starring characters of the show. Road Runner measures about 4" x 6", while Wile E. measures about 4.75" x 5.5". The two cels are displayed atop hand-painted backgrounds, likely custom-painted in gouache for the setup. The pieces are displayed side-by-side in a single Plexiglas-fronted frame, with each having a mat window of about 11.5" x 9.5". The overall frame size is about 34.5" x 18.25", and the frame is sold as-is. The cels are in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear from production use.
