Description

The Rescuers Penny and Brutus Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1977). This striking original hand-painted production cel from Walt Disney's 23rd animated feature, The Rescuers (1977), captures a dramatic moment as Penny dangles from the jaws of Brutus, one of Madame Medusa's pet crocodiles. The film follows Bernard and Miss Bianca of the Rescue Aid Society as they race to save the kidnapped orphan, whom Medusa plans to exploit to retrieve the world's largest diamond. Penny was animated by Disney Legend Ollie Johnston, while Brutus (and his counterpart, Nero) were animated by fellow Legend Frank Thomas-an ideal pairing that showcases nuanced acting and formidable menace. These are impressively large images: Brutus nearly fills the 16-field cel at approximately 12" x 9.5", maximizing the scene's tension and display impact. The cel bears a Disney seal, was laminated at the studio, and is handsomely matted to 20" x 16". In Very Good condition, this dramatic setup offers a powerful, collector-worthy moment from a beloved classic.
