Description
The Rescuers Madame Medusa Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1977). "Penny, don't you like it here?" This expressive hand-painted animation cel of Madame Medusa was created in the Disney ink-and-paint department and photographed during the making of the animated feature based on the stories of Margery Sharp. Milt Kahl, one of Walt Disney's master animators known as his Nine Old Men, supervised the animation of this scene of Madame Medusa removing her false eyelashes and makeup while speaking to the off-screen Penny. Medusa is seen in close-up and at her cloying best in an effort to win Penny's full cooperation in recovering the Devil's Eye. Seen near the 52:06 timestamp of the film. After she asks, "Do you know what would make Auntie Medusa very happy?" the camera cuts to Penny, who responds "Yes, you want me to find that diamond. But I tried hard as I could, honest!" In the very next scene Medusa continues her nasty work: "Of course you have, but we must try harder, mustn't we?" The rendered image of Madame Medusa measures approximately 7.75" x 8" centered nicely on a 16 field cel. With minor handling and edge wear from production and light paper debris on her lipstick, the lot's condition is Very Good.Auction Info
