Description

The Ren & Stimpy Show Original Production Cel Sequence of 6 (Nickelodeon, 1991-1994). "Happy-happy, joy-joy." The happy-go-lucky Stimpy is shown in his usual state of complete ignorant bliss with his tongue sticking out on one side of his mouth in these sequence of hand-painted cels. The show debuted on 8/11/1991 which happens to be the exact day and year as Rugrats (1991) and Doug (1991), though The Ren & Stimpy Show came to be the most popular cable television show on Nickelodeon at the time. The dark comedy series follows a psychotic chihuahua dog and a slow-witted Manx cat as they have a host of odd and strange adventures that in one episode can be in space while the next takes place in the past. The character's full name is Stimpson J. "Stimpy" Cat and was voiced by the versatile actor Billy West who based his performance on Larry Fine who is one of the Three Stooges. He eventually came to play both titular characters, Ren and Stimpy, after the original actor and series creator John Kricfalusi left at the end of season 2. This immaculate sequence has the first numbered cel circled which means it was done by the key animator for the episode. Stimpy's measurements range from 4.75" x 5.25" to 5.75" x 5.5" and are displayed over print background for presentation purposes. The production codes are found alongside the bottom near the peg hole edges of the cels. The overall condition is Very Good to Fine with light handling wear and edge wear.
