Description
The Real Ghostbusters Slimer and the No-Ghost Sign Mooglie Original Production Cels with Master Background and Animation Drawing (DIC, c. 1986-91). Watch out! Slimer and Mooglie are attempting to escape from this excellent lot of two hand-painted cels and Master Background from the seminal animated adaptation of the Ghostbusters. The Real Ghostbuster is an American supernatural animated television series which serves as a sequel to the 1984 classic comedy film Ghostbusters. The series debuted on ABC in 9/13/1986 as the first collaboration between DIC Entertainment (now WildBrain) with Columbia Pictures Television (now Sony Pictures Animation) and was distributed by Coca-Cola Telecommunications. It ran for a total of 7 seasons, 140 episodes despite all the behind-the-scenes controversy between the studio and the series writer J. Michael Straczynski and ended in 10/5/1991 with little fanfare as Season 7 only put out four episodes. J. Michael Straczynski most notable works are He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1984) and She-Ra: Princess of Power (1985). The production cel of Mooglie comes from one of the bumpers that play right before going to or coming back from a commercial break. He is seen in various situations with him either trying to escape the no-ghost logo when the show breaks for a commercial or attempting to fix it as the break ends. The amazing Master Background of the famous fire station Hook & Ladder Company 8 in New York comes from the episode "The Boogeyman Is Back" and can be seen at the 3:30 timestamp. It originally aired over 35 years ago on 10/3/1987 as Episode 4 of Season 3, this episode sees the intelligent Ghostbuster, Egon Spengler, induced with tremendous amounts of fear that was caused by his near-death experience at the World Trade Center which enables the Boogeyman to finally come out of hiding. Long time voice actor Maurice LaMarche, the man responsible for portraying the ingenious Brain from Pinky and the Brain, voiced Egon Spengler. The Master Background designers for this episode and their credits are as listed: Andre Clavel (FernGully: The Last Rainforest/The Rescuers Down Under), Kelly Day (Aladdin TV Series/Darkwing Duck/Gargoyles), Claude Denis (X-Men: The Animated Series/The Tick), Bruce Zick (The Iron Giant/Hercules), Jim Schlenker (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), and William Robinson. Lastly, the production cel and animation drawing of Slimer joyously flying around the Ghostbusters station which is his favorite pastime when he isn't annoying the Ghostbusters. The character image for Slimer measures at 5.5" x 4.5" while Mooglie measures at 4.5" x 4.5" and both are displayed over Master Background. The animation drawing matches the cel's measurements and is rendered in graphite along with color pencil. The overall condition is Good to Very Good with minor debris/residue, and some handling wear and edge wear.Auction Info
