The Peter Potamus Show Peter Potamus Animation Cel and Hand-Painted Background (Hanna-Barbera, c.1960s).
The Peter Potamus Show was a television cartoon series produced by Hanna-Barbera and first broadcast on 9/16/64. The Peter Potamus Show was a companion series to The Magilla Gorilla Show. Both series premiered in first-run syndication before being picked up by ABC in January 1966. During the original run of the cartoon in 1964, at the end of each episode, the closing song ended with the phrase: "And there he goes Peter Potamus, our ideal". The Ideal toy company was the sponsor of the television series. A similarly subtle sponsor reference appeared in the Magilla Gorilla theme song lyrics: "He's really ideal". This is a fantastic full figure image of Peter, hand-painted on 12 field acetate and paired with a hand-painted master background. Peter measures 6" tall and is nicely placed in the center of the piece. The cel is in a mat of 13" x 10". Mat is sold as-is. This would be a terrific addition to any animation collection. The artwork is in Very Good condition.
