The Orphan's Benefit Title Cards Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1934/41). The original black and white Orphan's Benefit cartoon was directed by Burt Gillet and released on 8/11/34. It was the first pairing of Donald Duck with Mickey Mouse. Some of Ward Kimball's early brilliant work at the studio was on this cartoon. The cartoon was remade in color as a nearly identical shot-for-shot remake, directed by Riley Thompson and released on 8/22/41. This is the actual opening title art for the 1941 remake, rendered in gouache on board. It's a fantastic piece of Disney history in a frame of 20" x 17" with a mat opening of 11" x 9". The black and white opening title has lettering placed on the Mickey and Minnie Mouse stage setup. In this lot are two alternatives for the black and white release. The block letter of the title may have been used for foreign, or 8MM film home use, while the script black and white Orphan's Benefit with its codes on it, seem to be a test or prototype. The black and white title cels are in frames of 18" x 15" with mat openings of 11.5" x 8.5". All three title cards are in frames which are sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
