Description
The Little Mermaid "Under the Sea" Sebastian Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1989). "We got no troubles, life is the bubbles... Under th' Sea!" This joyous original production cel spotlights Sebastian's showstopping turn in "Under the Sea," the Academy Award-winning number from Disney's 1989 Renaissance classic The Little Mermaid. Painted on a standard 16-field cel, the distinguished court composer of Atlantica appears full-figure, approximately 3.75" x 3.5", delightfully centered and accompanied by a lively stream of bubbles spanning the width of the setup. Captured about a minute and a half into the song (around 30:33 of the feature), the image comes from the sequence in which Sebastian urges Ariel to embrace life beneath the waves. The Little Mermaid revitalized Disney's musical tradition and stands as the studio's final feature created with hand-painted production cels. Animators reportedly drafted staggering quantities of bubbles for the film, with scores hand-inked on this very piece. The cel bears a Disney seal at lower left and has been paired with a studio-produced photographic print background for immediate display. Framed under Plexiglas to roughly 25" x 20". With minor handling and edge wear from production, overall condition is Very Good. A display-ready centerpiece for collectors. All frames are sold as-is.
