The Little Mermaid Production Cel with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1989). Has he kissed her yet?" asks Flounder. The carriage going over the bridge with Eric and a non-talking Ariel moves overhead. Flounder has swam up to see what is going on and then swims through the arch. This is an outstanding hand-painted production cel on its hand-painted Key Master production background. This character was animated by the "King of Cute," Supervising Animator Dave Priuiksma. This film was the last Disney feature film to use hand-painted production cels. These cels and their Key Master backgrounds were sold at a "The Art of Little Mermaid" Auction in New York City on Saturday, December 15, 1990. This was lot #191. Overall dimensions were 11" x 17". The Key Master setup is in a frame of 24" x 18" with a mat opening of 16.5" x 11". A Disney Auction COA is on back of frame. This sale was almost 30 years ago, and few of these prized Key Masters come up for resale. Adorable image of Flounder with great separate cel water effects is 2". Stunning background painting. Frame is sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
