    Description

The Little Mermaid Ariel Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1989). Lovely Ariel reacts to a dangerous situation in this original hand-painted production cel, from the last Disney feature film made before the switch to digital animation. This setup was originally sold at the New York "The Art of the Little Mermaid" Auction, held on December 15, 1990; this was Lot #105. In this scene, Ariel is entering Ursula's underwater cave, frightened by the hideous garden of polyps she encounters. Each polyp was once a desperate merperson who made the mistake of asking evil Ursula for a favor they couldn't repay, and now Ariel is about to ask her for something really big -- to transform her into a human! The cel is placed on its matching hand-painted background of the cave interior. Ariel has an overall image size of 8.5" x 6", and the setup is matted with an opening of 16" x 9.75". It is framed using glass; frame size is 23.5", with a Disney COA attached to the backside. The frame is sold as-is. Cel setup is in Fine condition.
