Description
The Jungle Book King Louie and Mowgli Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1967). "We got him, King Louie!" "So you're the man cub, crazy!" "I'm not as crazy as you are!" This is the dialogue of the monkeys delivering Mowgli to King Louie at his throne, and then King Louie and Mowgli's first meeting. This is at the exact beginning of Louie Prima's song "I Wanna Be Like You!" This is an exceptional hand-painted production cel of King Louie and Mowgli, with an outstanding image size of 7". The cel is on its Key Master hand-painted production background of King Louie's throne, at his castle in the woods. Backgrounds in this film were done by Bill Layne, Art Reily, Ralph Hulett, Thelma Witmer, and Frank Armitage. Background styling was done by Al Dempster. The bananas laying everywhere by the throne background are painted in gouache on background board. This is truly a stunning setup, from the last animated feature film that had Walt Disney's personal involvement, prior to his passing. Please note this comes directly from the Estate of famed actress Mary Astor (1906-1987). She had a home in Woodlands, Big Bear that at one time was owned by Walt Disney Studios. The setup is matted with an opening of 14" x 11", and framed with glass for an overall size of 18" x 15". Key Master setups from this film are considered very rare; this is one of the finest we have seen to date. Frame is sold as-is. Minor handling wear. Very Good condition.Auction Info
