Description

The Jungle Book Baloo and Mowgli Pair of Production Cels (Walt Disney, 1967). "What have we here?" Baloo and Mowgli meet for the first time in this lovely pair of 16 field production cels from The Jungle Book. The two fast friends were animated by several of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Milt Kahl, Eric Larson, and John Lounsbery and were created for about 21:36 (Baloo) and 21:44 (Mowgli) respectively during the bear's introductory scene in the film. Baloo leans down to inspect the child to see just what kind of animal he is, surprised for once and excited that he's meeting someone new after seeing just about everything there is to see in his jungle home. Mowgli is full figure at roughly 3.5'' x 3.5'' and Baloo is at an impressive 5.25'' x 7''. Both have been masterfully hand-painted and are displayed on a print background from the film for presentation purposes. The cels are numbered 3B-199 and 3 in the lower right corner and are a wonderful way to relive Baloo and Mowgli's unforgettable meeting in the classic film, the moment that would set them on the path to becoming the best of friends and create the relationship that would define the film. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
