Description
The Giving Tree Shel Silverstein Production Cel Group of 2 (Churchill Films, 1973). While almost everyone has owned a copy of Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree book at one time or another, it is not commonly known that the story was produced in animated form in 1973. The artwork was directly based on the famous drawings from the book and was animated and narrated by Shel Silverstein himself! Here are two original hand-inked 12 field cels from that ten minute short. In one image, we have the little boy hugging the tree trunk, while the tree folds her "hands" and looks down on him lovingly. In the second image, a wistful one, the little boy has become the old man... and he sits on the stump that was once his friend and reminisces. The little boy and the tree measure 7" and the old man is 3". Both cels are taped to backing boards; Fine condition.More information about Shel Silverstein. See also: Silverstein, Shel Artist.
