The End of Evangelion Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Soryu Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). "Don't leave me alone! Don't abandon me! Don't kill me!" Shinji despairs, to which Asuka coldly responds, "No." From Hideaki Anno's celebrated anime film The End of Evangelion, this is an incredible original production cel featuring Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Soryu. A notorious image, this scene has met with significant speculation from fans and scholars of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. Whether it is a literal flashback or only happening within the psyche of Shinji Ikari has been debated among Eva enthusiasts since the film's release in 1997. This piece has a large hand-painted image area of 9.75" x 7.5" on the 12 field cel, and it can be seen at the 1:05:09 mark of the film. The cel is numbered A20 END in the upper right corner, and it shows minor handling and edge wear. This is the final frame of the sequence!
