Description
The End of Evangelion Lilith Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). One of the most memorable scenes from the cult-classic animated film The End of Evangelion is represented in this lot, offering a spectacular hand-painted production cel of Lilith, taking the shape of Rei Ayanami, as her body begins to collapse following Shinji's rejection of Instrumentality towards the end. Released theatrically in Japan on July 19, 1997, this movie offered at the time a thrilling yet enigmatic conclusion to the groundbreaking anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion following its controversial final episodes. This image, seen at the 1:19:55 mark of the film, presents Lilith measuring a remarkable image size of 12" x 6.75" on the 13.75" x 9.25" cel, numbered A39 in the top right corner, and is showcased on a printed background for presentation purposes. Minor fading can be seen on the linework. Overall, the lot presents minor handling and edge wear from production and is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
