The End of Evangelion Asuka Langley Soryu and Shinji Ikari Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). From the shocking and puzzling final scene of the influential anime film The End of Evangelion, we have in this lot an astonishing hand-painted production cel featuring Asuka strangled by Shinji. The enigmatic closing moments of the film have a desolate landscape where Shinji and Asuka lay next to each other until Shinji stands up and starts strangling the wounded Asuka. The 13.75" x 9.25" production cel, numbered A5 in the top right corner, has Asuka with Shinji's hands around her neck, measuring an image size of 13.25" x 8" as seen at the 1:25:26 mark of the film. The cel presents very light handling and edge wear from production with minor fading on the linework. In Very Good condition.
