The End of Evangelion Asuka and Shiji Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). From the baffling closing scenes of the groundbreaking movie The End of Evangelion, we have in this lot an astonishing hand-painted production cel featuring the unforgettable image of Shinji strangling Asuka. Directed by series creator Hideaki Anno, this film provided an alternative finale to the iconic anime series. This 13.75" x 9" cel, numbered A12 in the top right corner, was created to appear at the 1:25:30 timestamp of the film, showcasing the haunting picture of the appalled Asuka with Shinji's hands around her neck, all occupying an overall image size of 13.25" x 7.75". With minor handling and edge wear from production and minor fading on the linework, the cel's condition is Very Good.Auction Info
