DescriptionThe Aristocats Thomas O'Malley and Toulouse Animation Cel (Walt Disney, 1970).
In early 1966, Walt Disney asked Ken Anderson to determine whether The Aristocats would be suitable for an animated feature. With occasional guidance from Wolfgang Reitherman, Anderson worked from scratch and simplified the story which focused more on the cats. Walt saw the preliminary sketches and approved the project shortly before his death in December of 1966. Walt suggested the film be an adventure comedy similar to 101 Dalmatians. The film is noted for being along with The Jungle Book the last film project to be approved by Walt Disney himself. The Aristocats was released into theatres on 12/11/70 almost four years to the day that Walt died. From The Aristocats we have a superb animation cel featuring the film's protagonist, Thomas O'Malley also known as Abraham de Lacy Giuseppe Casey Thomas O'Malley the Alley Cat. Also featured in this cel is Toulouse, the oldest of the kittens, he aspires to be a tough alley cat and adores Thomas as a father figure. This 16 field cel was hand-painted at the world-famous Disney Ink and Paint Department in Burbank. The cel is placed on a copy/print of the background for presentation purposes and framed. The frame measures 15.75" x 13.5" with a mat opening of 10.5" x 8.25". Frame sold as-is. This is a terrific production cel from a wonderful film by Walt Disney. Condition is Very Good.
