Description
The All New Popeye Hour Title Card Production Cel Setup (Hanna-Barbera, 1981). Hanna-Barbera's original Saturday morning Popeye series made a serious effort to retain the look and feel of the original Thimble Theatre comic strip (but without the violence), using many of the traditional characters associated with the strip. One segment involved Olive Oyl and Alice the Goon in the Army, where they consistently drove their drill sergeant, Sgt. Bertha Blast (voiced by Jo Anne Worley), crazy. Here's a hand-painted five-cel Master Title Card for an episode called "Troop Therapy" with Olive, Alice and Sgt. Blast; the background is painted on a cel as well. This is a rare one!
