Description
Spooking with a Brogue Casper the Friendly Ghost and Billy Production Cel with Production Background (Famous Studios, 1955). "Well, I'll be! A fortune in gold, it is!" Casper the Friendly Ghost goes to Ireland in the 1955 theatrical short Spooking with a Brogue. This is a remarkably rare original hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel featuring the iconic little ghost with his friend Billy. This cartoon was directed by Seymour Kneitel and Myron Waldman, and it follows Casper as he helps a young boy find a means to pay his miserly landlord. One of his solutions is to paint golden eggs, seen here (though he ultimately just scares the landlord away, in classic Casper fashion). This moment can be seen at the 5:13 mark of the film, displayed on an original Famous Studios production background rendered in gouache on board. The background is possibly from another Casper cartoon. The 12 field setup shows minor handling and edge wear, with small creases in the upper corners of the cel.
