SpongeBob SquarePants "Tea at the Treedome" Patrick and SpongeBob Production Cel (Nickelodeon, 1999). "I hope y'all like your tea strong!" Steeping tea directly in their water helmets, its SpongeBob and Patrick in this original production cel from Episode 1's "Tea at the Treedome" of their long-running series SpongeBob SquarePants. One of Nickelodeon's last originals to premiere in the 1990s (and the only one of the decade still airing with a total of 15 seasons and counting), this long-running series transitioned away from traditional cel animation after the first season. "The Treedome" closed out the debut episode with an air date of May 1, 1999, revolving around SpongeBob's first encounter with an air-breathing animal in Bikini Bottom to whom he becomes fast friends. Unfortunately when Sandy invites him to her home (a climate-controlled dome filled with air instead of water), SpongeBob gets quite the dehydrating surprise. From the last moments, Sandy solves the problem with their drink glasses by putting the tea bags directly in their helmets near the 22:51 timestamp of the full 3-segment episode when viewed online. Hand-painted with hand-inked detail to three-quarters figures, the fancy friends share a combined image area of 6" x 4.5" on the multilayer 12 field cel which bears production codes along the lower edge and has been paired with a print background for display purposes. With typical handling and edge wear including minor linework wear, faint paint bleeding, and minor peghole tearing, overall these welcoming neighbors are in Very Good condition.Auction Info
