Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "Squidward, the Unfriendly Ghost" SpongeBob with Banana Production Cel with Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1999). "A banana, peeled to your liking" says SpongeBob, in this original hand-painted two-level cel setup from Season 1 Episode 11 of this mega-popular animated series. In it, Patrick and SpongeBob have mistakenly believed Squidward has died, and they are witnessing his ghost; in order not to placate him, the boys tend to the "ghost's" every wish. Here's SpongeBob as he offers a banana to Squidward, who is happily going along with his confused friends' error. The cel of Gary is not from this scene, but it does fit with the hand-painted production background from Season 1 Episode 13, "I Was a Teenage Gary." SpongeBob and his banana have an overall image size of 4.5" x 4", while Gary measures 2" x 1.5". The gouache on paper background is affixed to a 13.5" x 10" animation lightweight board.
