Description
SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob with Patrick Star and Squidward Production/Color Model Cel with Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1999). This unlikely hit animated series (A cartoon about a sponge? C'mon!) has proved to be big with collectors of animation art as well. One good reason, besides the unquestionable coolness, is that only the first season was traditionally animated on cel, with all subsequent seasons done digitally. With that in mind, here's a great three-character hand-painted 12 field production cel from the Season One episode "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost," first shown on 10/2/1999. Thinking they had killed Squidward after destroying his life-size replica, the boys think the real Squidward is a ghost! This very colorful cel of SpongeBob and Patrick can be seen at about the 4:07 mark, as Squidward takes advantage of the situation; the combined image size is approximately 5.75" x 5.25". The hand-painted Master production background is from Episode 2, "Ripped Pants," which works very well with the cel. What a setup! Overall condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.Auction Info
