Description
SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob Production Cel Setup with Master Background (Nickelodeon, c. 1999-2001). "Ehehehe." SpongeBob lets out a nervous laugh in this original production cel setup with Master production background from one of the last Nicktoons to premiere in the 1990s, SpongeBob SquarePants. This mega-popular Nickelodeon animated series (the fifth-longest running American animated series ever, currently with 14 seasons) about an undersea sponge and his friends was in fact created by a marine science teacher, Stephen Hillenburg. Here's a fantastically large image of SpongeBob looking somewhat unnerved from Season 1 which was the only season to be traditionally cel animated. The hand-painted and partially hand-inked cel features an impressive closeup of the iconic character measuring 3.5" x 5.25" and nearly full-figure missing only his shoes. The 12 field cel is presented with a Master production background from the Season 1 episode 13 segment "Scaredy Pants" which can be spotted at approximately the 5:41 mark of the Halloween themed segment as a homeowner opens their door for trick or treaters. This expertly hand-painted background has been rendered in gouache on 12 field background board with an image size of 11" x 8" and production codes found along the lower edge. Backgrounds for episode 13 were created by Richard Ziehler-Martin, Calvin G. Liang, Andy Clark, Peter Bennett, and Michael Chen. What a wonderful setup, sure to please any fan of the show! With typical studio handling and wear including linework wear with some areas of restoration, minor surface debris/residue, remaining tape, a faint crease near the top left corner of the cel, and light edge wear to the background with a tear to the center peghole, overall this setup is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
