SpongeBob SquarePants "Plankton!" SpongeBob Production Cel Setup with Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1999). "You're right Gary! There IS something wrong with me! Squidward, Squidward!! Wake up, I need some help!" SpongeBob has lost control of his body thanks to a devious little parasite in this original Master setup from Episode 3's "Plankton!" of his long-running original Nickelodeon series. Created by marine science teacher, Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob SquarePants is a mega-popular Nicktoon that ranks fourth in the list of longest running American animated series. It currently has 15 seasons with only the first produced using traditional cel animation. "Plankton!" premiered on July 31, 1999 featuring the debut of Mr. Krabs' titular business rival and follows his first of many attempts steal the Krabby Patty secret formula. With Plankton quite literally controlling his brain from the inside, SpongeBob can be seen leaving his house pantsless under the cover of nightfall near the 6:49 timestamp with the hole through Squidward's wall spotted shortly after near 7:13 timestamp when the segment is viewed online. Hand-painted with hand-inked detail to full-figure save for his left foot, SpongeBob measures 4.25" x 6.5" nicely centered on the 12 field cel. The Master background is hand-painted in gouache on background board measuring approximately 14" x 10.5" overall; both the cel and background bear production codes along the lower edge. Background artists for Episode 3 include Andy 'Spike' Clark and Calvin G. Liang. With typical handling and edge wear including minor paint discoloration and faint linework wear, overall this suspiciously-acting sponge is in Good condition.Auction Info
