Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "Nature Pants" SpongeBob and Patrick Key Master Setup (Nickelodeon, 1999). SpongeBob sheds all of his worldly possessions and immerses himself in nature in Episode 9 of Season 1. Presented in this lot is an extraordinarily rare Key Master setup of Patrick Star and SpongeBob. The two full-figure hand-painted characters together measure 6.5" x 5.5" on separate 12 field cels that are paired with the matching hand-painted background from this scene that appears around the 3:00 mark. The setup is unique in that the image of SpongeBob appears at the 2:57 mark as he offers his can opener to Squidward. Patrick appears seconds later at the 3:02 mark. While the cels do not appear together in the film, both are Key Master to the background. The top cel bears a Nickelodeon seal in the lower right. Only the first season of SpongeBob was animated using cels, so there is a very finite amount of them in circulation amongst collectors and Key Master setups are rarer still.
