Soreike! Anpanman Baikinman and Anpanman Production Cel with Production Background (TMS Entertainment, c. 1988-2000). One of the most popular anime series among young children in Japan, Soreike! Anpanman stars Anpanman, a superhero whose head is an "anpan," a pastry filled with red bean paste. Anpanman bravely protects the world against evil in the form of Baikinman, an anthropomorphic germ who is intent on spreading bacteria around the world. The anime has been running for roughly forty years! Here is a lovely original, hand-painted production cel from the cherished series, depicting a humorous battle between Anpanman and Baikinman. The hand-painted production cel measures 10.5" x 9.25", with a large image of about 8.75" x 7.75". The cel is numbered in its upper right corner with A6. The cel is paired with an original, hand-painted production background from an unknown series, depicting puffy white clouds in a bright blue sky in gouache and pencil on 14.25" x 10" background board. The piece is in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including minor creasing on the edges of the background, and the cel has two staples on its top edge affixing it to the background. The cel has some minor fading on its linework, and there is a small stain on the background's right edge.
