Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and Forest Animals Courvoisier Production Cel Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). Here's a charming Courvoisier setup depicting Snow White and her new forest friends. This is an impressive piece with hand-inked, hand-painted trimmed and professionally restored images presented over a gorgeous airbrushed Courvoisier background. It's rare to see a Courvoisier of this size. It measures about 13" x 11.5". Beautifully framed to 27" x 25.5". In the late 1930s, The Walt Disney Studios was riding on a tidal wave of success. Guthrie Courvoisier, President of the highly esteemed Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco, was aware of Disney's escalating reputation, and saw vast opportunity in it. Guthrie believed that the Disney paintings on celluloid that were used to create Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs could be sold as valuable art pieces to the public through art galleries and museums all over the world. And he was right. Guthrie believed that selling the cels exclusively through a respected art gallery would entice high-end collectors and museums, and would cement Disney's reputation as a respected figure in the art community. Today Courvoisier setups are highly prized by discerning collectors. This is one of the nicest cel setup we've seen with a great full-body image of Snow. Setup is in Very Good condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
