Description
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and Birds Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). "With a smile and a song, life is just like a bright, sunny day. Your cares fade away, and your heart is young." The melodious Snow White harmonizes with a bird in this delightful hand-painted Courvoisier setup, showing a representative image of the emblematic protagonist of Disney's first feature-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Guthrie Courvoisier, president of the renowned Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco, partnered with Walt Disney back in 1938 in an exclusive agreement to sell original animation cels, starting with this emblematic film. This cooperative effort proved that Disney production art could be sold as fine art, creating the beginning of Animation Art. Featuring the beautiful Snow White as seen during the famous "With a Smile and a Song" scene at approximately the 12:12 mark of the movie, this hand-painted and hand-inked production cel shows the character measuring 4.5" x 5.5", joined by the group of birds and the blue bird seen during this part of the film. The cel is showcased on a wonderful hand-painted airbrushed Courvoisier background and displayed on a 15.5" x 16" glass-fronted frame with an 8.5" x 8.5" mat opening. A piece of the original Courvoisier mat, showing the inscription "From "Snow White" and a W.D.E. stamp, is featured on the back of the frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The cel has been professionally trimmed to image, and shows fading, light waviness, and some paint wear.
