    Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Production Cel with Courvoisier Background (Walt Disney, 1937). "She's waking up! What do we do? HIDE!" say the seven dwarfs when they first discover Snow White sleeping in their bed. She wakes up and sees them peeking out at her from the foot of the bed. She says "Why... you're little men. How do you do?" This is a very rare hand-inked hand-painted Courvoisier production cel of all Seven Dwarfs; Doc, Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Grumpy and Dopey! Cels of all seven are incredibly rare, as there are so few scenes showcasing all seven together. In this cel you see that Dopey is the only one of the seven with blue eyes. This fantastic cel is on a Courvoisier hand-painted background. This "trophy piece" of Disney artwork is in a frame of 19.5" x 16", with a mat opening of 9.5" x 6.5". Frame is sold as-is. The setup includes the cel of the blanket part that Snow White is under. Tiny paint loss in Dopey's hat, some slight paint separation in blanket, overall Very Good condition for this vintage cel. Amazing image!

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
