Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Old Hag Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1937). "Fine! Fine! Now take a bite!" says the Old Hag to Snow White after telling her "This is no ordinary apple. It's a magic wishing apple!" We all know what happens next! This amazing setup is of this exact scene, including the Key Master background of the dwarf's cottage interior, as it appears at the 1:15:00 mark in the film. The Evil Queen, here disguised as the Old Hag, was Disney's first feature film Screen Villain, and she remains one of the most terrifying of them all. This setup includes a trimmed-to-outline hand-inked, hand-painted cel of the Old Hag that has been affixed to the background. This was probably done by the Disney Art Props Department, similar to what would be done with Courvoisier setups, only with the inclusion of the actual hand-painted production background, instead of a custom painting. This Key Master production background was painted by Sam Armstrong (1893 - 1976) in watercolor/gouache on board. You can find this image in Jeff Lotman's book Animation Art The Early Years 1911-1953, on page 9. The Old Hag has a figure size of about 6.5". The setup is matted with an opening of 12" x 9.5", and is framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 22" x 19.75" x 1.5". Frame is sold as-is. The cel is coming loose at the head and hand. Very Good condition.
