Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Evil Queen and Old Hag Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). "Mummy Dust, to make me old. To shroud my clothes, the black of night. To age my voice, an old hag's cackle. To whiten my hair, a scream of fright. A blast of wind to fan my hate! A thunderbolt to mix it well! Now, begin thy magic spell..." The Evil Queen opens a sinister potion book during the haunting transformation scene of the seminal Walt Disney masterpiece Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Seen at the 49:30 mark of the film, this is a remarkably rare hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel setup. Prepared by the Courvoisier Galleries, this incredible and elaborate piece is presented on an original hand-painted Courvoisier background with a hazy airbrush layer that obstructs the image of the Old Hag lurking in the background. A very clever setup, the piece shows trimming, and it is framed under glass with a mat window size of 10.5" x 11.25" and an overall frame size of 17" x 18". Frames are sold as-is. Collectors highly prize original production art from the very first Disney feature film, and this jaw-dropping Evil Queen setup is no exception. The original Courvoisier mat bears the original script "The Queen" in the lower left corner. The piece shows minor handling with some paint separation and wrinkling, and the condition is Good.
