Description
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Dopey Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). "In a mine (in a mine), where a million diamonds... Shine!" With a dustpan full of sparkle, fan-favorite Dwarf Dopey makes a star appearance in this original production cel Courvoisier setup from the "Heigh-Ho" song sequence in Disney's groundbreaking classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Notable for being both the only Dwarf with blue eyes as well as the only one who doesn't speak, Dopey's endearing personality has helped maintain his renowned popularity for nearly a century. Sweeping up some discarded gemstones that didn't pass Doc's discerning review, Dopey can be spotted in his introductory scene near the 22:17 timestamp of the film as his cohorts chant the "dig, dig, dig, dig" lines of their famous "Heigh-Ho" number. He has been hand-inked and hand-painted to full figure measuring 4.5" x 4" and nicely centered. The setup includes a hand-inked overlay cel for the gems' shine which may be from the film, and is paired with its original Courvoisier custom airbrushed background. Unlike the standard Courvoisier practice of meticulously to-image trimming, this cel appears to have the character's paint sealed on the reverse side with only slight edge trimming to the setup's overall size. The charming setup has been framed under glass to an overall size of 17.25" x 19" with a mat aperture of 6.75" x 7.5" and includes a CoA on the reverse side. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical handling and edge wear including faint rippling of the cel with pinpoint spots of linework wear, overall this cheerful worker is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
